1. Onboarding creates the starting context
Users choose the habits they want to change, estimate the current pattern, select a recovery identity and tone, and can add details about triggers or earlier attempts. Synapse uses those answers to generate the first plan. A plan is guidance generated from user input, not a clinical assessment.
2. Daily activity updates the record
Check-ins record whether the day was a win, difficult day, or slip, along with completed recovery tasks, triggers, and optional notes. The urge tool records an urge session and whether the user reports resisting it. These entries feed progress views and reports.
3. Deterministic metrics summarize activity
Recovery Score, Recovery Integrity, lifetime clean days, previous best streak, and Recovery Momentum are software calculations. The formulas read activity already stored by Synapse; the numerical metrics do not require an AI model. 4. The AI Coach adds contextual language
Coach prompts can use the selected recovery identity and tone, current streak, saved plan, chosen habits, recent check-ins, urge information, and derived trigger patterns when relevant. Requests go through an authenticated server endpoint. AI text can be inaccurate, so it should not be treated as medical advice or the sole basis for important decisions.
5. Two interfaces share the same data
Command Mode presents a tactical visual style. Focus Mode provides a calmer, lighter presentation. Both use the same account, stored recovery records, and shared calculation engines. Switching the interface does not reset or fork progress.
6. Shield is optional enforcement
The web app works without the extension. Users who want website-level controls can connect Synapse Shield to block, limit, or schedule configured sites.
