What changes after a slip
The ordinary current streak can reset, the day's Recovery Score includes a slip penalty, and Recovery Integrity moves toward a lower daily value. Repeated recent slips can move Recovery Momentum to Recovering or Critical. These changes make the setback visible without deleting historical progress.
What remains
Check-in history, lifetime clean days, previous best streak, and earlier recovery timeline events remain available. Recovery Integrity is an exponential moving average across the full history, seeded at 50 and updated with 12% of the gap toward each day's value, so one day changes the indicator gradually rather than forcing it immediately to zero.
Emergency Recovery Mission
For a slip logged today, Synapse can generate three short, concrete actions for the next 24 hours. The result is cached for that slip day. If the AI request fails, the app uses a fixed practical fallback. Completing all three actions raises that slip day's integrity input from 15 to 40; it reduces the penalty but does not erase it.
Recovery Momentum
Momentum is a categorical summary—Critical, Recovering, Building, Stable, or Strong—based on Recovery Integrity, current streak, recent slips, and urges logged today. It is a product state, not a clinical risk level. Command Mode and Focus Mode use the same calculation and only present it differently.
Why it differs from a streak-only model
A streak answers one question: how many consecutive days are currently recorded. Smart Streak Recovery also answers what has been retained, whether recent activity is stabilizing, and what the user can do next. See How It Works or connect Synapse Shield for website blocking controls.
